Perfume Project Pan Update #1
Hello, it's been a month, so here's my update in getting through my fragrance collection. Starting this time I'm including pictures (note that for this first time, the listed "start" dates are all over the place) and weights of the bottles (without caps.)
In Progress
Brazilian Crush/Cheirosa '62
Current Weight: 189g
I like the scent a lot in the bottle, but on me it loses all sweetness. It turns into a very chemical floral + salt. I'm so ready to give up on it; but something, I don't know what, is stopping me. I have other options for warm gourmand scents. Plus... as you can see this bottle is pretty dang old already.
Cleopatra
Current Weight: 10g
I never actually noticed it has grapefruit notes until making the last post. Still like it! It's my smallest bottle, but feels like one of the slowest going, because of the rollerball applicator.
Coco Cabana/Cheirosa '39
Current Weight: 37g
Still love it!!! Still annoyed at the cap though lol.
Curious
Current Weight: 91g
This has been my main focus, despite it not really being season-appropriate. I'm so close! It's getting tricky to spray. I'll miss it when it's gone, I like aquatic/cleaner scents. Kind of sad that the elastic of the charm has stretched out from its own weight over the years. I might put it on something once the bottle is empty.
Hello Kitty
Current Weight: 264g
Still love it! I'm not too surprised this is the heaviest, its a huge glass oval. Use-case wise, it's closest to Curious, so at least I won't feel a void in my collection for a while.
Lucky Number 6
Current Weight: 118g
I only used it once or twice since writing the label, though it was using it for a week straight that inspired me to start this. I appreciate this bottle for being both flat, and being one of the better spray pumps. Still like it, still think it's a good every day perfume.
Night Iris
Current Weight: 142g
No photos because the bottle is opaque. I think I only used this once in the last month. I like it. I think we're still in the top 1/4th of liquid.
Soul Beautiful
Current Weight: 167g
I like it a lot in the bottle, but the second it hits my skin its nothing but powder. Also it gave me a headache one of the two times I used it. I'm done with it.
Sun-Ripened Raspberry
Current Weight: 236g
Another in the "it smells like cleaner, but in a good way" list. Favorite spray nozzle of all of my fragrances. Definitely lots of headache potential with this one, use with caution.
Tease Eau de Parfum
Current Weight: 35g
I made a mistake last time: I linked Tease on Fragrantica. I actually own Tease Eau de Parfum, identifiable by the bottle's fishnet stocking. Though, confusingly, it seems on the VS website that nowadays Tease Eau de Parfum is naked. I love this scent and will be sad to see it go.
Winnie the Pooh
Current Weight: 155g
It looks gross in the bottle imo, but I think that's just a quirk, it's always looked like that. Still smells great!
Summary:
Most progress made with Curious and Tease. Hoping to finish the former by next time, guessing it'll take about a week. Will get rid of Soul Beautiful. Need to convince myself to drop Brazilian Crush. Plan to focus on Tease and other warm scents for the holiday.
I still own Vanilla Musk (87g) as well, idk what I'll be doing with it.
Changes For Next Month
I'll continue weighing and taking photos, though I'll try to change my photo set up and editing to be a bit cleaner. I'm going to try just dotting the bottles with a sharpie going forward, but am a bit worried it'll rub off the glass ones. We'll see. I do not believe in myself; but I will try my best to keep tally of how many days I use a fragrance each month as well.
Layering Experiments
My two simplest scents are Sun-Ripened Raspberry and Winnie the Pooh. One day I wore them together and it was a kind of odd mix but worked pretty well. The muted, natural honey and the sharp, artificial raspberry balanced each other out well. A bad idea I had earlier, and tested while typing this: Brazilian Crush mixed with Winnie the Pooh. My thought process being, maybe the sweetness of the honey can balance out the notes of Brazilian Crush. It wasn't good.
A Makeup Aside
I was inspired and went through my makeup as well. Turns out I actually own less than I thought.
- Colourpop pretty guardian sailor moon palette
- Colourpop crystal clear aquarius palette
- Colourpop what a hoot palette
- Colourpop labelle of the ball palette (24 shades total btw)
- Covergirl clean fresh skin milk
- L'Oreal Paris true match powder
- Etude House zero sebum powder
- Perfect Diary soft velvet blurring loose powder (pom pom purin💛)
- Covergirl professional remarkable mascara
All the Colourpop and the velvet powder (so half the list lol) were surprise gifts, to boot. It's definitely worth it to actually take inventory though. I tossed an eyeshadow quad while making my initial list. Everything but the mascara is years old and... should be scrutinized lol. This will be on the sideline, though I may take pictures occasionally.
The Holidays Will Affect This Project
Educated guess. My family is a very "buy your love" type, and there's a secret santa with my friends. The Delicia Drench jet set, and some makeup may or may not be on my Christmas wishlist... Also I'm not on a no-buy. Maybe I'll just see something I really want. (I have zero lip products of any kind right now 🤯) We'll see what changes by then.
The End! See you on (maybe around) Christmas for next month's update.
