Perfume Project Pan Update #2
Hello! Welcome back to my perfume project pan. Last month's update here. New for this month: I successfully kept track of uses by day. These numbers will add up to more than one month, because sometimes I change scents after the first fades/washes off. Also this number only refers to if I actually wore the fragrance, not if I used it as room spray or something else.
In Progress
Brazilian Crush
Current Weight: 164g (-25g)
Uses This Month: 2
Thoughts: โ BANISHED to be a room spray. This product sits better on my shower curtain than on my skin ๐. Every time I smell it I have a moment of "this could have been me" ... but it was not meant to be.
Cleopatra
Current Weight: 9g (-1g)
Uses This Month: 8
Thoughts: I was right, the rollerball makes this go at a snail's pace. Despite the lack of movement, this was my most used in-progress bottle this month. I think I like it most a couple hours after applying.
Coco Cabana
Current Weight: 34g (-3g)
Uses This Month: 3
Thoughts: unintentionally mixed with curious once, (curious left on overnight, CC on top) I would not spray both at the same time but they went together better than expected. I've noticed I subconsciously save it for social events.
Hello Kitty
Current Weight: 264g
Uses This Month: 0
Thoughts: I referred to this as artificial sweet before, but I think that's inaccurate. It's just unnaturally intensely sweet/sugary. It makes me think of macerated strawberries. No photo because I DIDN'T USE IT ALL THIS MONTH โน.
Lucky Number 6
Current Weight: 117g (-1g)
Uses This Month: 2
Thoughts: This has zero notes in common with Night Iris but for some reason the two remind me of each other. They could be distant sisters, or close cousins.
Night Iris
Current Weight: 142g (-0g)
Uses This Month: 2
Thoughts: Do you like her new necklace? I've come to realize this is my most intense fragrance. To be fair this is also my most recently manufactured one, that's probably part of it.
Sun-Ripened Raspberry
Current Weight: 232g (-4g)
Uses This Month: 3
Thoughts: โ BANISHED partially to be a room spray. It just really irritates my sinuses sometimes. I'll keep trying on my skin every so often but I've mostly accepted it's fate.
Winnie the Pooh
Current Weight: 154g (-1g)
Uses This Month: 4
Thoughts: I never would have noticed the milky quality to the scent if I hadn't seen it listed on fragrantica; but now it's impossible for me to ignore. It's still mostly honey and beeswax. I like this fragrance a lot :-)
Empties
Curious
Current Weight: 81g (-3g)
Uses This Month: 12
Lifespan1: June 2014 - December 2025
Thoughts: Farewell my love. Took a bit longer than I expected to use up at about two weeks instead of one. This perfume is still for sale pretty cheap, but it no longer comes with the little charm. Why are we stripping perfume bottles naked :-(. In case you happen to want to track your progress on this fragrance with sharpie lines; I realized much too late that it's easiest to tip the bottle on its side. My favorite thing about this scent is that it felt like the top notes never fully go away, it doesn't transform much if at all.
Tease
Current Weight: 34g (-1g)
Uses This Month: 3
Lifespan: September 2018 - December 2025
Thoughts: This took less time than I expected to finish (about 3 days.) I actually stopped by Victoria's Secret while Christmas shopping to see if they had a tester of the current formulation. They did; it's different and not to my liking :-(. I'll miss it a lot, but life goes on! Many other smelly things in this world to enjoy.
Soul Beautiful
Lifespan: c.2015 - November 2025
Thoughts: This is a fake empty. I soured on it so hard, so fast, I'm pretty sure I threw it away the morning after after last update. I wanted to like it but it was SO powdery and irritating.
New Additions To The Family
Cherry Blossom & Sunflowers
Merry Christmas! Cherry Blossom by Bodycology (59ml, 73g) was a stocking stuffer. Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden (30ml, 90g) was also a surprise gift. Obviously perfume has been on my mind, and I had talked about some of my favorite fragrances to my mother sometime before the holiday, so she got me an old favorite that I haven't had for a while!
Pear Fantasy
(59ml, currently 45g.) I found this lurking in the bathroom cabinet a couple of weeks ago. Like Raspberry Fantasy, it was my sister's forever ago and I've somehow ended up with it. It physically hurts, it's probably going to be a room spray.
No One Cares: Body Fantasies Moment
So, back in the intro post I talked about Raspberry Fantasy, which was this lovably nasty and ancient body spray that was totally NOT Raspberry by Body Fantasies. And now I've found its sibling Pear Fantasy, which has a lot more information on the label. Such as that it's from Parfums de Coeur, which if you take a peak on Fragrantica, is what has become the bottles we see now that just say "Body Fantasies." So I was wrong. I had the super ancient version of Raspberry from Body Fantasies2
Monthly Summary
Three bottles gone, three bottles immediately in. 39 "uses" of perfume over the last month. Most progress: Brazilian Crush. Most used: Curious. Current Favorite: Winnie the Pooh. Current Least Favorite: Sun-Ripened Raspberry. Next Month: get to know Japanese Cherry Blossom, more sweet scents in general. I'm glad I switched to the marker lines, way easier and clearer than the washi tape. I'm gaining stats, I'm totally making charts once I have a few months' worth. Yes I know no one cares. (Except me, I care ๐ก.) Vanilla Musk remains untouched in my tray, still, as well...
Some Other Things I've Already Learned In A Couple Months
- I'm using the title Project Pan, but I don't like the negative, almost shameful approach a lot of people take with it. For me, this is more "it's fun to actively think about and appreciate the items I own & use."
- I usually end up applying perfumes once in the morning and once about halfway through my waking hours. Body Sprays fade much faster but I tend to not think about it any more frequently.
- I already knew I'm one of those people that gets excited to use up items/start a new one (for example, writing a lot more than usual to fill the last few pages of a notebook.) but I've confirmed this applies to fragrances also. I absolutely was a chemical weapon the last couple days of Curious (especially with all the half-air bubble spritzes making more sprays okay in my head.)
- I feel like I can be heavy-handed with spraying, but nobody has complained or noticeably taken damage from my aura so far. In fact, nobody has mentioned my fragrances in any way without prompting ๐. That's not a bad thing, I suppose.
That's the December update for my perfume project pan! I'm surprised I had the time/energy to finish this on Christmas! Nevermind on the makeup section this month though, I am too tired for that part. See you in 2026 for the next one.
I have a friend that it turns out I talk to about every mundane thing ever, so by keyword searching through old conversations I was able to find starting months for the majority of my fragrances. IDK if that's sad or impressive.↩
Raspberry scent from this company no longer exists at all, though interestingly, current day Body Fantasies Cotton Candy scent has raspberry notes. This only intrigues me because those are the two scents I ever cared about from this brand. It seemed to me that the brand Bodycology (which also has a raspberry fragrance) mostly replaced it culturally; but it turns out they are two separate, coexisting entities owned by the same parent company.↩
